London is a dream city for many people, and many aspire to live and study in the UK. The UK education system is world-class, with some of the world’s top universities located here, including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Imperial College London, and King’s College London. However, most UK universities are quite expensive for international students, with high tuition fees. Fortunately, there are some universities that provide world-class education at relatively low tuition fees, ranging between £10,000 and £15,000 for international students, depending on the course. As an international student who graduated from the University of Roehampton, I understand how important it is for international students to find a good university with affordable tuition fees. Most students prefer to live in London, so here are five affordable universities in London for international students.
- University of Roehampton
The University of Roehampton is located in southwest London, near Richmond Park. It takes less than half an hour from London Waterloo station to reach the university. The campus is very green and spacious. Tuition fees range from £14,000 to £16,000, but they offer up to a £4,000 discount for international students, which is applied every year. The teaching staff are excellent and friendly. I personally enjoyed my time at Roehampton, and my tuition fees were around £11,000 per year. Roehampton was also the first university to offer an e-sports course and scholarship, with an e-sports arena for streaming, gaming, and editing.
- London South Bank University (LSBU)
London South Bank University is located in the London Borough of Southwark, near the South Bank of the River Thames. It’s just a 7-minute walk from Elephant and Castle underground station. Tuition fees range from £15,000 to £17,000. The university emphasizes the quality of education by offering comprehensive degree programs and employing highly qualified academic staff to nurture students’ core capabilities and strengths. LSBU is also recognized as one of the leading universities with a high employability rate among its graduates.
- Kingston University
Kingston University is based in Kingston upon Thames, a vibrant area on the River Thames in southwest London, only 30 minutes from central London. It takes about half an hour to reach the university from Earl’s Court station. The average tuition fee is around £16,000. Kingston University is one of only 26 higher education providers in the UK to hold three Gold ratings in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), alongside Oxford and Cambridge.
